2009 -> 2010

2009 finally over!

I did plan to continue blogging from another platform since I didn’t like blogsome due to some of its strange formatting results when composing posts. Since it’s a year, it sure will be a great start.

I will continue over there

PUNCTURE
One bad day leads to another. Rear Car tyre hit a screw, fortunately it was on 4 wheels & not 2. And luckily it wasn’t much of torture changing to spare tyre since the weather was good.

MARKET
Recent comments by Marc Faber

“You should buy Japanese stocks and Japanese banks. This is the absolute contrarian play. Nobody is interested in Japan, all the funds have withdrawn money from Japan, they have given up on Japan.”

“Sentiment on the U.S. dollar was really extremely negative over the last three months. The other currencies are not much better. The dollar will appreciate against the euro by another 5 to 10 percent, and later on we’ll have to see, but that would be a near-term target.”

“The S&P 500 Index could go up 200 percent if (Ben Bernanke) prints enough. The worst investment, in the long run, will be U.S. Treasuries, and cash which has no return at present. This is the one reason that I am moderately positive about equities is that this money goes into leverage plays.”

It will be more difficult to make money in 2010 as the markets become more volatile. I think 2010 will be more of a year when not to lose any money will be very important. I am a little more cautious in general.”

COUNTDOWN
6 more days to 2010!
Finally able to have a couple days of rest before rush hours starts again from 4 Jan 2010 onwards.

A pity I couldn’t travel as much as I could during 2009. I reckon it will be the same as long as there will be even more Projects kicking off …….. *sighz*

So what’s next? We will see then ….. grinzzzzzzzzzz

MARKET
Some ETF/ Stocks for consideration next year. I guess interest in China is heating up, also cash rich chinese companies are going for another round of “shopping” like Geely recent purchase of Volvo.

Home Inns & Hotel Management (Nasdaq:HMIN)
You need some place to sleep when traveling in China right?

Ctrip (Nasdaq:CTRP)
China biggest Internet Travel Company

China Automotive Systems (Nasdaq:CAAS)
These are will be in great demand as developing countries starts to raise their living standards

What to dominate next year, nothing new. IBD 100 is dominated by BRIC (Brazil-Russia-India-China) companies. Pity that BRIC Mutual Fund not included under CPF investment scheme.

For cash investment, I rather go for ETFs
iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index ETF (FXI)
iShares Brazil (EWZ)

Still considering which ETF as proxy for Russia & India

GREENIES
I guess it must be almost a year since they launch greenlots & Electric Motorbikes. How far have progress? From what I see, not much.
Only 3 charging points at SP, INSEAD & IKEA. This not really a feasible solutions in the long run. Personally, instead of charging stations, I felt they should offer battery swap services. I believe this will be a more viable solutions than setting up charging stations around the island.
